My Birthday & the gift my children gave me today

Well, I haven't written on my blog for a while and I am disgusted with myself. I mean we all get busy but I should be writing about something everyday as far as I am concerned. Today was my 51st birthday. It was just like any other Saturday, nothing special. I didn't celebrate it with a party or cake or ice cream but that's okay. I enjoy celebrating other people's birthdays more than my own. I'm not boasting, or trying to make myself seem better than others, that's just the way I have always been. A very wise man once said it is better to give than to receive. I truly believe in that concept and in HIM (Jesus). The highlight of my day was a birthday card that my son brought to me about half an hour ago. He wrote some very nice and thoughtful words to me that showed how he feels about his father, and how much he appreciates me. I am truly moved and touched because he wrote this from his heart. And my son Daniel has a great heart. I am very proud of him. He has turned out to be an awesome man. He will turn 21 on March 27. I will be framing this card because it means so much to me. My daughter also signed it and wrote some kind words. I love and appreciate her also.

I cherish the good things in life like my children and being able to see and spend time with them. Life is short, and we have to spend as much time with our loved ones as possible. You never know how much time you have until your number is up, and the good Lord calls you home. So this is a priority for me. Everything else in my life is secondary. If you take anything away from this message today I hope I have impressed upon you the importance of family, and spending time with them. Whether you have children or not, you should still spend time with your parents, cousins, or those family members who are close to you. Remember, we are all not perfect, and sometimes we may get angry and say mean things to one another than we really do not mean. When that happens, just forgive the person who offended you. Don't hold any grudges. Today, I felt the love from my offspring in such a special way that it will stay with me forever. I love my kids more than I can express in words. That, is the best birthday gift a father can ever receive. So thank you Daniel and Michelle for letting me know how much you love your pop. Believe me, the feeling is mutual.
